Governance

Bye-laws & Constitution

Our bye-laws and constitution define the principles, structure, and operational framework of Cranfield Students’ Association (CSA). These governing documents ensure accountability, fairness, and effective decision-making, forming the foundation of how we operate.

Policies

CSA follows clear policies that guide decision-making, member conduct, and organizational responsibilities. These policies are designed to uphold integrity, maintain transparency, and ensure that CSA operates in the best interest of its student members.

Board of Trustees

Cranfield Students’ Association is a charitable organization governed by a Board of Trustees, responsible for overseeing governance, financial stability, and strategic direction.

The Board of Trustees consists of:

  • Officer Trustees
  • Elected Student Presidents
  • External Trustees
  • The Senior Management Team – Staff members who support operational and administrative delivery.

Roles & Responsibilities of the Board of Trustees

The Board plays a crucial role in ensuring that:

  • Everything CSA does benefits Cranfield students and aligns with our mission as a charitable organization.
  • CSA remains financially sustainable, with budgets and spending decisions overseen by the Board.
  • CSA complies with legal and regulatory frameworks applicable to student unions and charities.

Officer Trustees

These are elected representatives who automatically serve on the Board of Trustees

Presidential Trustees

Elected student Presidents are enrolled students. Their involvement helps keep CSA student-led, ensuring decisions reflect student interests and voices.

External Trustees

External Trustees are appointed professionals with experience in governance, finance, education, or student affairs. They bring an independent perspective, ensuring CSA’s governance remains balanced, strategic, and future-focused.
